Vitamin C Infusions

Support Your Healing, Immunity, and Recovery from the Inside Out

When you’re sick, recovering from surgery, or healing a wound, your body’s demand for vitamin C skyrockets. Unlike most animals, humans can’t produce their own vitamin C—we rely entirely on food sources. The challenge is that even the freshest fruit can lose much of its vitamin C during storage and transport, especially when your body needs it the most.

At Walker Street Doctors, we offer GP-led, nurse-delivered vitamin C infusions designed to safely restore optimal levels and help your body heal faster.

Why Vitamin C Matters

Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant essential for:

  • Collagen Production: Crucial for wound healing and tissue repair.
  • Immune Resilience: Helps fight infection and inflammation.
  • Energy and Recovery: Supports iron absorption and cellular metabolism.

When your body is under stress from illness, surgery, or injury, it uses vitamin C faster than you can replace it through diet alone.

The Evidence: The Westmead Study

A landmark clinical trial at Westmead Hospital’s Wound Clinic found that:

  • Half of all patients with chronic wounds were vitamin C deficient, with many exhibiting undetectable levels.
  • Patients who received vitamin C healed dramatically faster, with ulcers shrinking by 100% in the vitamin C group, compared to an increase in ulcer size in the placebo group.
  • No patient in the vitamin C group required amputation, while nearly half of those in the control group did not heal.

These results highlight how common and clinically significant vitamin C deficiency is in anyone with wounds, infections, or slow recovery.

How Infusions Help

Intravenous (IV) vitamin C bypasses the gut and delivers high, therapeutic levels directly into your bloodstream. This can:

  • Quickly replenish depleted stores.
  • Reduce fatigue and inflammation.
  • Support healing after illness, injury, or surgery.
  • Strengthen immune defense and collagen formation.

All infusions at Walker Street Doctors are delivered by our experienced nursing team under GP supervision in a calm, comfortable environment designed for rest and recovery.
