Treatment Room Care

Our treatment room provides a calm and comfortable space for planned clinical care, with your GP, experienced nursing staff and appropriate monitoring supporting you throughout your care.

If you have low iron levels or suspected iron deficiency, at Walker Street Doctors, our GPs look beyond your blood test results to consider the whole picture - including your symptoms, medical history, and other contributing factors - to determine whether there may be an underlying cause the needs further attention. We will arrange further investigation where appropriate, and discuss the management options that are suitable for your individual circumstances.

What to expect during your consultation

During your consultation, your GP may:

  • Review current and previous blood test results.
  • Discuss your symptoms, medical history, medicines and previous treatment.
  • Consider whether further investigation is appropriate.
  • Discuss the management options available, including their potential benefits, limitations, risks and alternatives.
  • Agree on a plan for follow-up testing and review where appropriate.

Your treatment plan

There is no single approach to managing iron deficiency that is right for everyone.

Your GP's recommendations will depend on your confirmed diagnosis, the severity and possible cause of your iron deficiency, your medical history, previous treatment and personal circumstances.

Your GP will discuss the options with you and recommend an approach based on your individual needs. Booking a consultation does not guarantee that any particular treatment will be recommended.

Follow-up care

Follow-up allows your GP to assess how you are responding to the agreed management plan and whether the underlying cause has been adequately addressed.

The timing of repeat blood tests and clinical review will be tailored to your individual needs.
