How It Works

1. Receive your pathology request from your doctor (paper form, email, or text message).
2. Visit 4Cyte Pathology through the practice entrance.
3. Present your request form (from any pathology provider) to Wendy.
4. Complete your test with minimal discomfort thanks to Wendy's expertise.
5. Results will be sent directly to your doctor.

No Appointment Necessary

Walk-ins are welcome! No booking is required for most pathology tests. You can bring a paper pathology form from your doctor or simply show the electronic request that may have been emailed or texted to you.

Preparing for Your Blood Test

For Fasting Tests:

Some blood tests require fasting from midnight (water only), including:

• Blood sugar tests
• Cholesterol/lipid panels
• Various other specialized tests

Your doctor will inform you if your test requires fasting.

Tips for a Smoother Experience:

• Stay Warm: This helps improve blood flow and makes collection easier.
• Be Well-Hydrated: Drinking plenty of water (even while fasting) makes veins more accessible.
• Relax: Our beautiful waiting room environment is designed to help reduce anxiety.

These simple preparations make the process more comfortable for you and help our pathology collector obtain the sample efficiently.

Bulk Billing & Insurance

4Cyte Pathology bulk bills all Medicare-eligible tests, meaning Medicare will cover the cost for you. If you don't have Medicare, 4Cyte Pathology will send you an account for all pathology tests, which you can claim back through your private health insurance. 

Please note that some specialized tests may not be covered by Medicare and could incur out-of-pocket expenses. If any tests are not bulk billed, 4Cyte Pathology will send you a bill directly.

Your Test Results

Your test results will be sent directly to your referring doctor, usually within 3 days, depending on the test. Each doctor at Walker Street Doctors has their own protocol for communicating test results to patients, which may include SMS notifications, telehealth appointments, or in-person discussions depending on the findings.
