Register for MyMedicare

... Register Today ...

What is MyMedicare?

MyMedicare is an Australian Government program designed to strengthen the connection between you and your regular GP.
By registering with Walker Street Doctors, you’re confirming we are your main healthcare team — your “home base” for medical care.

This means:

  • We know your history and ongoing needs
  • We can provide more coordinated, personalised care
  • We receive additional funding from the government to better support you

You can still see other doctors if needed, but we remain your primary partner in managing your health.

What are the benefits?

Registering is free and offers important benefits:

    • Continue your Care Plans – To keep providing Medicare-funded chronic disease management plans and reviews, you must be registered with us.
    • Better ongoing care from your regular GP
    • Longer telehealth (phone/video) appointments for eligible patients

    You can register if you:

    • Have a Medicare Card or DVA Veteran Card
    • Have visited your doctor's office in person twice in the last 2 years (once if you live in a remote area)

Special note: If you're experiencing hardship, homeless, or dealing with domestic violence, you can join regardless of these requirements.

    How do I sign up?

You can register  in several ways:

    1. Online in the Medicare app or through the myGov app or website
    2. By filling out a paper form available at reception
    3. By filling out our online form

    Important things to know:

    • You can still visit other doctors even after joining
    • You can change your registered GP or medical practice anytime
    • You can leave the program whenever you want
    • Your personal information remains private and secure

    Families:

    • Children under 14 must be registered by a parent/guardian
    • Teens 14-17 are able to register themselves
