What Happens at the 12-Month Well Baby Check?
During this consultation, your GP takes the time to review your child’s health in a calm, unhurried setting. We look at growth charts, developmental milestones, nutrition, sleep, and behaviour, and answer any questions you may have. It’s also a chance to talk about the exciting (and sometimes challenging!) transition into toddlerhood.
Every family is different, and every child’s journey is unique—so we tailor the consultation to your child’s needs while making sure all the important checks are covered.
Vaccinations at 12 Months
At this visit, your child will receive three important vaccines:
- Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR): The first dose of protection against these serious illnesses.
- Meningococcal ACWY: Protects against four strains of meningococcal disease, which can cause life-threatening infections like meningitis and septicaemia.
- Pneumococcal vaccine: Helps protect against infections such as pneumonia, meningitis, and ear infections.
Our nurses assist with preparing and administering the vaccines, ensuring the process is as smooth and gentle as possible for both children and parents.
