Meet Dr. Rachel Bedser: General Practitioner & Lifestyle Medicine Physician
Dr Rachel has over 15 years' experience in general practice, with a long-standing interest in using healthy lifestyle behaviours to prevent illness — rather than waiting until disease is fully formed and needing acute treatment.
That approach was consolidated through facing her own health challenges as a new parent, and broadened through the experiences of close family members, where the generic, common-sense lifestyle steps no longer felt like enough. It sparked a deeper curiosity: what actually shapes good health beyond the basics of "eat less and move more" — and what biological, environmental, and nervous system factors can get in the way of people experiencing optimal health for themselves.
This search led to further training — International Board Certification in Lifestyle Medicine, postgraduate study in plant-based nutrition, and additional training through the Australasian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine (ACNEM) and the Medical Academy of Paediatrics and Special Needs (MAPS) — alongside a growing expertise in knowing when, and how, functional testing can add genuine clarity to a complex picture.
More recently, Dr Rachel has come to see nervous system regulation as foundational to how the body experiences and expresses health. She brings a nervous-system-aware, trauma-sensitive lens to her work, with personal experience of somatic practices alongside the core foundations of food, movement, rest, stress management, and meaningful social connection.
